RDAMBSC Announces Indigenous Business Month Event

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast is pleased to announce that they will be hosting an upcoming workshop and luncheon event on 11 October to celebrate Indigenous Business Month.

In line with this year’s Indigenous Business Month theme of ‘Making our Mark’, these events will focus on supporting Indigenous businesses in our region to thrive, while celebrating their remarkable achievements and contributions to the economy.

The day will commence with a workshop session specifically for Indigenous business people. Using a global café-style format, it will cover Business Essentials topics that delve into core issues such as cyber security, presenting a business online and valuing and protecting cultural IP.

This workshop will be followed by a lunch event, to which all are encouraged to attend. The theme of the lunch will be “Marking Our Mark: Indigenous businesses in a digital world”, celebrating the incredible achievements of Indigenous businesses and their contributions to the economy.

RDA Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast CEO Jacqueline (Jacki) Steel explained that this event presented an opportunity to build upon the important work of RDA Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast’s predecessors, while also strongly aligning with the new organisation’s key priorities.

“This is the first major event we’ll be delivering as the newly amalgamated RDAMBSC. We chose this opportunity because of the foundations laid by RDA Moreton Bay in the Indigenous business space, as well as to demonstrate our commitment to supporting opportunities for our local First Nations peoples and communities – one of our key priorities.”

“As Indigenous Business Month celebrates its tenth year, this year’s theme inspired us to think about how we could honour this milestone. We aim to celebrate the First Nations’ approach to business and shine a light on the stories, models, and ideas that are redefining what Indigenous business truly represents.”

With the support of City of Moreton Bay Council, this event also highlights RDAMBSC’s commitment to partnerships and collaboration in these important spaces. As Jacki explains:

“By partnering with local organisations and Councils across the Moreton Bay-Sunshine Coast-Noosa growth corridor, we’re really able to amplify these incredibly important initiatives.”

“This collaborative approach shows how RDAs and Councils can work in step with each other to increase the reach and impact of our activities for the benefit of the broader community. I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to City of Moreton Bay for their invaluable support.”

The Indigenous Business Month events will be held on Friday, 11 October at Eatons Hill Hotel.

Registration for both events will be free.
