Businesses invited to discuss government’s reforms to country of orgin labelling laws

A round table discussion will be held on 19 May for local businesses to provide input into the Australian Government’s reforms to country of origin labelling laws (CoOL).

The CoOL framework is intended to allow consumers to identify the origin of their goods when making purchasing decisions. This is achieved by prohibiting any origin claims from being false, misleading or deceptive, and requiring certain classes of goods, particularly food, to be labelled with a country of origin.

The business consultation session is open to agribusinesses, farmers, retailers, food manufacturers and peak industry bodies to have their say on the new labelling proposal.
